Cultural Night

Juanita Whitebear at Taft High School works so hard to put together this newsletter and to organize a monthly Indian Education Cultural Night. I was so pleased that she was interested in an inclusion of a "Schooling Salmon Painting Party" at their last gathering. Together the group painted 6 smolt-size cedar fish and 2 big salmon, each 2.5 feet long, for inclusion in this public art installation. They also painted lots of paper fish designs, which will be on display at a gallery in the Cultural Center. Juanita shared the story of the Salmon People with a circle of children and she mentions this story in her newsletter as well:
